Most of the wounds I've suffered in my years as a pastor have been from the sniper-rifles of professing Christians. And, I'm sure I've been on both ends of the rifle. So, I found Mark Driscoll's words in the following sermon clip convicting and encouraging, especially after this past week (and year). Let's pray the church in America heeds them:
I worry about us being a big church filled with people who hear partial truths and then gossip about other Christians and churches and ministries.
Let's covenant together to love the whole body of Christ. Then when people are suffering, let's not add to their suffering. If you hear something that's half-truth, gossip, don't necessarily run with it.
We're already suffering. We don't need friendly fire.
