Prayer "upon occassion of excessive rain"

In preparation for Sunday's sermon on prayer in corporate worship, I came up the following prayer in Matthew Henry's A Method for Prayer, which seemed timely considering that our excessive rain in the past couple of days pushed our monthly rainfall total to a new record of 14.44 inches.
Let the rain thou sendest be in mercy to our land and not for correction, not a sweeping rain, which leaveth no food.

Thou has sworn that the waters of Noah shall no more return to cover the earth; let fair weather therefore come out of the north, for with thee is terrible majesty.
